The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 13.01.-14.04.2002 ///// This is a wonderful work which also hung in the now infamous #JazzKellerBonn back in the day. A moody image of Sonny Stitt thoughtful between songs. The spotlight highlights the fact that he was visible when "in focus" as a musician, but not so much when he was not on stage. This was the balance that all black musicians had to struggle with the USA at that time. (Julian Sander)
